She was surrounded by her loving daughter and son-in-law, and her cherished grandchildren. Her oldest grandson was unable to be home with the family, as he is serving in the military overseas. By her side were also two close family friends, who were like daughters to her for many years.
She was predeceased in death by her husband, Gene A Meeks, in 1979. He was her one and only true love. Leta leaves behind a legacy of her own.
She was a cherished mother, a precious mother-in-law and a treasured “Tetaw” to her grandchildren. Her love for her family was immeasurable. She was an incredible woman with great character and strength. She was a successful business woman, the owner of Aesthetic Hair Designers in Palm Beach Gardens for over 30 years.
She is survived by her only daughter and Son-in-Law, Brian and Denise Pursell; her three grandchildren, Justin, Ashley and Colton; one brother, Milton Jackson and his wife, Debbie and three sisters, Dorthea Jackson, Malva Phillips and Marlene Henderson.
A private “Celebration of Life” will be held at a later date, once Leta’s oldest grandson is able return from his military service overseas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers or gifts, donations be made to Hospice of Palm Beach County in her memory
