Lois was a graduate of New York University where she earned her Master of Business Administration. She enjoyed working for IBM in New York City for several years before her marriage in 1961. She told many interesting stories about that time in her life. She often joked about competing with her father on who had the longest work day. We are not sure which of them was the hardest worker but the Schumann family took great pride in working hard and getting a good education.
Not having much spare time, Lois’s mother stepped in and insisted Lois attend a dance with her girlfriends to meet nice young men. As luck would have it, that dance resulted in meeting her future husband, Steve. They fell in love and quickly decided to get married just a few months later. They moved to Franklin Lakes, NJ and had many exciting adventures that shaped Lois into the very compassionate and patient person we loved dearly but also a fierce opponent in Monopoly, Canasta and whatever life threw at her. Lois worked with her husband at Stephen P. Radics and Company, a family accounting firm, for many years while raising her daughters. It is noted here of the story of how Lois was called into the principal’s office at her daughter Ellen’s high school when it was discovered that she and Ellen were attending matinees of Broadway shows instead of completing the school day. This abruptly ended the great fun she and her daughter were having together! Lois loved the theater and was thrilled her daughter Ellen shared the same interest.
When Lois and Steve retired, they moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina a favorite vacation spot they frequented often. Lois loved living near the ocean and enjoyed all the attractions of the area. She and Steve indulged in long daily walks on the beach and the many wonderful new friends made in the area. Many family and friends spent vacations with Lois and Steve in their home where everyone was welcomed.
Lois’s final adventure was moving to Jupiter, Florida to live close to her family. She forged ahead by trying new hobbies and found she loved fitness classes with her new neighbors. No matter the limitations that presented themselves, Lois managed to adapt and keep herself occupied with the activities she enjoyed such as games, singing and fitness.
Lois was a devoted wife of 65 years to Stephen Radics, Jr. and loving mother to her daughters, Beth Green (Nick) and Ellen Collins; she has three grandchildren, Audrey Goldsborough (Chase), Steven Collins and Elizabeth Pearce (Seth); a great grandson, Carter Goldsborough; a great granddaughter expected this spring; her sister, Janice Schumann; as well as many family and friends.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
