Margaret A. Straigis

Peggy, born Margaret Adamitis, married John Joseph ‘Jack’ Straigis, Jr. on March 22, 1969, and they received a papal blessing of their marriage. They shared 50 years of marriage until Jack’s death on January 27, 2020. Peggy graduated from Dallas High School, Dallas, PA. She attended Wilkes-Barre Business College and later Empire Beauty School in Wilkes-Barre and received her Cosmetology License and her Cosmetology Teaching license. Peggy was the owner of Peggy Straigis Hair Fashions in Dallas, PA. She later went on to teach at the Academy of Creative Hair Design and other local schools.

Peggy was a loving wife to Jack, beloved mother, grandmother and friend. Peggy and Jack were introduced by Jack’s grandmother at the Harvey’s Lake Bingo Hall. She enjoyed playing games, especially bingo, traveling, reading and painting. She was an amazing cook and loved to cook for family and friends. Over her lifetime, she showed great love and passion for her canine family members.

Peggy is survived by her two sons, John Joseph III ‘Jay’ of Greensburg, PA and Martin Andrew Straigis and his wife, Lauren of Hobe Sound, FL; grandchildren, Jack, Josie, Aiden and Hailey; sisters, Eleanor Wolovich of Edwardsville, PA and Lorraine Johnson of Lake Worth, FL; her beloved dog, Suzie Q, as well nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, John Joseph Straigis and daughter-in-law, Cherub Beth Straigis.
