Mary Poe Murphy

Mary Poe Murphy, 98 years of age, 6 days shy of 99, passed away on September 6, 2024 in Jupiter, FL. She was born in Orlando, Florida on September 12, 1925; the daughter of the late Martin and Lura Poe.

Mary graduated from Auburn University. She married Richard C. Murphy and together they shared 27 years of marriage. She was an entrepreneur of fast food, and owned her first Burger King franchise in 1957. In her earlier years Mary was an avid golfer, world traveler and a member of Theta Upsilon Society, a member of P.E.O. Chapter FZ and a member of the Jupiter Hills Club.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Heimann and Ronald Heimann and his wife Christine; four granddaughters, Rachel, Jessica, Jennifer and her husband Derrick, Kim Dionne and her husband Scott; three grandsons, Addison, Richard Murphy III and his wife Kathy and Michael Murphy; three great grandchildren, Ridge and his wife Santana, Collin, Erin, Drew and Kassidy; and a nephew, Robert Heimann and his wife Sandy.

Mary is predeceased by her first husband -- Edwin Adolf Heimann -- & father to 3 sons, Richard, Ronald, and Edwin; her husband of 27 years, Richard C. Murphy; a son, Edwin Heimann, a brother, Edward Poe, and a sister, Betty Parrish.

A Celebration of Life & Belated 99th Birthday Party will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 06:00 pm at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, Florida, 33458.

In Lieu of flowers or donations, please post a “letter to Mary” of your thoughts, remembrances, and prayers to her residence in Jupiter (12082 SE Prestwick Terrace, Jupiter, Florida 33469) or bring to the service on October 1, 2024. We would like to share your letters with all attendees at the celebration and place these memories in a sealed urn in the waters off Mother’s Bahamian residence – Island House, Frazer’s Hog Cay, Bahamas. Mother’s ashes will be spread on the waters nearby reuniting her with her beloved husband, Richard. Please clearly mark the envelope and/or letter “DO NOT SHARE” if you wish to remain private.
