

Mr. Khanal graduated from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and then received a Master’s degree in Engineering from University of Alberta in Canada. He worked on his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Raleigh.
Khanal worked as a Civil Engineer for the South Florida Water Management District, and he was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and other professional Engineering organizations.
He was a pioneer in the fields of desalination and reverse osmosis and his published work was considered authoritative.
In addition to his work as a public servant he was one of the first consultants to engineer and design pools and screen enclosures for all of South Florida.
He had a passion for living life to its fullest, traveling the world, learning new languages, continuous education, and an active donor to the Humane Society.
Khanal was truly proud and loving of his children. He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children Mary Ward, his three children; Shela Khanal, Reena Marks and Robin Khanal, his grandchildren Zoe Cameron Prince and Kellan Nath Marks, his brother Bhogendra Nath Khanal and his sister Mahalaxmi Lohani.
A memorial and celebration of his life will be held at Aycock -Riverside Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on September 13.
