

Norman graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1950 and married the love of his life, Marie Myers, on October 13, 1951. They shared 57 years of marriage before she passed. He served as a medic during the Korean War (1951-1953) as a U.S. Army Private, First Class. Norman retired from Frito-Lay, Inc after 31 years, earning such honors as both Top Salesman and Safe Driving Award 30 consecutive years! He was a faithful and active member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed bowling, golfing and fishing.
He is survived by two daughters, Diane Leslie (Jeff) of Jupiter, FL and Lisa Overfelt (Don) of Monrovia, MD; a son, Ricky Smedley (Sarah) of Royal Palm Beach, FL; a sister, Doris Hood (Doyle) of Tavares, FL; a sister in-law, Carol Ruff of South Bend, IN; two grandsons, Ryan Overfelt (Stacey) of Birmingham, AL and Brent Leslie (Andrea) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; four granddaughters, Laura Leslie-Schuemann (Theodore) of Jupiter, FL, Amber Bottenhorn (Aaron) of Winter Park, Florida, Bethany Leslie of Winter Garden, Florida and Julie Watson (Matthew) of Winter Garden, FL; four great grandsons, Jonah Watson, Blake Leslie, Sebastian Schuemann and Everett Bottenhorn and one great granddaughter, Charlotte Schuemann.
Norman was predeceased by his spouse, Marie Myers Smedley and brothers, Lawrence and Jerry Smedley.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be private. Donations in Normans name can be made to the Church of Christ at 4067 Leo Lane in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, 33410.
