

OK joined the US Navy in April 1945 and went to flight school in July 1947, and got his wings in 1948. He obtained the rank of lieutenant and was assigned to the 135th Attack Squadron where he flew a corsair. After the Navy, he graduated salutatorian with high honors from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis and received his doctorate in optometry. He moved to Riviera Beach where he began his optometric practice in 1956 and practiced in Lake Park and eventually Palm Beach Gardens. He served his community as an Optometrist for over 50 years. OK also served as a President and member of the Palm Beach County Optometric Society as well as the Lions Club he was a Fellow, American Academy of Optometry. OK loved spending time with his family, reading novels and traveling to Las Vegas to play video poker.
Dr. OK Haugen was a loving father and is survived by his daughter, Karen (Haugen) Eismann spouse (Kurt); sons, Gary Haugen spouse (Debbie); Dr. Michael Haugen spouse (Kim); grandchildren, Erich Eismann, Mallory Perry, Philip Haugen, Nicole Bullard, Jill Nutt, Kasey Rushfeldt and Jeffrey Haugen and 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday July 10, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter FL 33458. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 717 Prosperity Farms Rd, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 PM at Riverside Memorial Park, at 19351 SE County Line Rd, Tequesta, FL 33469.
