Peter went home to God on August 20,2020.
A veteran of the United States military, he served as an Army medic in the Korean War. Peter graduated New York University School of Dentistry in 1969 and then earned his license to practice Dentistry in New York and in Pennsylvania. He established a vibrant dental practice from the ground up in Freeport on Long Island. He loved Long Island. He loved New York. He loved the United States of America, and most of all he loved God. His favorite Holidays were the 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
He was a protective and dedicated father of four children.
Peter moved his family from Freeport to Garden City Long Island while continuing to grow his Dental Practice in Freeport. Professionally, he was an active member of medical societies and community organizations, as well as past President of the exchange club of Freeport New York. He was honored by the Nassau County Dental Society with the Presidents citation of Merit for service of excellence. He was a valued contributor to the Waldorf School of Garden City that was attended by all four of his children.
Throughout Peter's life, he enjoyed the Ocean, Nature, Bicycling, Boating, Music, The Arts, History, and Word Games. Further, he was a master at fixing, building, making and creating beautiful things.
It was often said by friends and family that Peter could build, create, and repair masterfully just about anything that he set his mind to accomplish. He always wanted to share his latest creation and teach others how to do it. His brightest joys were sharing with his children.
He was loving and selfless throughout his life in caring devotion to his family and his friends. Peter was a strong, kind, and generous giver; he was humble yet proud, grateful, energetic, and quick witted; he was always a gentleman and always carried a handkerchief. In a kitchen, he was a brilliant vegetarian cook and stressed healthy foods. Dr. Peter Conte neither liked nor believed in pharmaceutical medicines. He rarely took a pill of any kind.
Peter was an avid model train enthusiast and was an active member of the Long Island Garden Railway Society. He Loved everything about trains and railways. When Peter relocated to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, in order to be closer to his children, he actively rebuilt his G Scale model railway inside his home. He became an active and much loved member of the SDA Church of Jupiter/Tequesta, as well as First Presbyterian Church of North Palm Beach. He quickly made numerous new and treasured friends.
He is survived by his four adoring children; Peter, Lawrence, Andrea and her husband David, and Brian; their mother and his former wife Diane; four siblings- Denise, Rosalie and her husband Frank, Joan and her husband Alfred, and late brother Lawrence; sisters in law Elaine and Rosalie; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in the United States and Italy.
