Mr. Juhl was born and raised in western New York. Always a hard worker, as a young man he attended technical school and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church before going overseas to serve as a US Army Sergeant. He was proud to serve from 1943 to 1946 and shared many stories with family and friends.
Upon returning home to western New York Richard began work as a Lineman for the Niagara Mowhawk Company. He returned to his activities at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he soon met his wife to be, Jeanette. Richard and Jeanette were married for 54 years and had two daughters, Kim and Heidi. Family was everything to Richard and was his greatest joy. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and gifted the children with many memorable hours of happiness.
Mr. Juhl worked his way up the company ladder and eventually earned a position in the Switching Department of NY Bell Telephone Company (prior to the company Divestiture). He was with NY Bell Telephone Company for 45 years. In 1983 he retired from the phone company and relocated to south Florida. Soon restless with retirement, Richard began a new career and worked another 12 years in Florida with Bank of America.
Over the years Mr. Juhl was active in the Bell Telephone Pioneer Club. He was also a Mason and a member of the Palm Beach Gardens Amara Shrine branch. In his spare time Richard enjoyed gardening and delighted family and friends with his beautiful rose garden. An avid auto enthusiast, he could often be seen happily washing his car in the driveway. Richard was a resident at Prosperity Oaks in Palm Beach Gardens for the past two years.
Predeceased in death by his devoted wife, Jeanette and his son-in-law, David, Richard will be lovingly remembered and missed by his remaining family: daughter, Kim, daughter, Heidi and son-in-law, Ron, and grandchildren, Jason David and Shelby Jeanette.
Graveside services will be private.
