

He spent his first 18 years on the family farm in Harbourton, NJ. He attended the Harbourton 2 room school house from Kindergarten through 7th grade. He graduated from Central High School of Hopewell Township in 1962. He attended Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. There he became a lifelong Tech fan.
Ron began his career right after graduation at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, CT. He worked there for 10 years until the Military Engine Division was transferred to Florida. He worked in Florida until he retired there in 2000. He then became the General Manager of the Florida office of Belcan Corporation, an outsource engineering company, from which he retired in 2011.
Ron enjoyed watching his favorite team, the New York Yankees, on television or in person. He and the family made an annual visit to Yankees Spring Training games in Tampa. He also enjoyed college football games and rooted for Georgia Tech or Florida State University (his sons’ alma mater). In addition, he enjoyed visiting many National Parks and his love for the outdoors extended to his second home in Lake Lure, NC.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Nancy (Lindgren); his sons, Michael (Kristen) and Brian (Leah); his sister, Linda (Susan); his sister, Holly and her children, Noelle, Christopher, Patrick, and Daniel and a brother-in-law, Sam Greenstein and his son Jesse.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Esther Atchley and his sister, Carolyn (Greenstein).
Funeral services were held on Thursday, August 31,2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Lutheran Church in
Lambertville, NJ with Pastor Erhardt officiating. Burial was at Harbourton Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in Florida at a later date.
