Ronald John "Ronzo" Pfister, 82, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Ron was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud public servant who dedicated a good portion of his life to protecting and serving his community and country.
Ron graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School before answering his country's call to service. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966, achieving the rank of Sergeant E-5 before receiving an honorable discharge. His military service instilled in him the values of honor, courage, and commitment that would guide him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Ron continued his dedication to public service by joining the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY), where he served with distinction for 22 years before retiring. Much of his service was spent with Engine Company 302 / Ladder Company 155 located in Queens, NY. His bravery and selflessness as a firefighter exemplified his lifelong commitment to helping others.
In 1971, Ron married the love of his life, Lorelei Ann (Marotta) Pfister, beginning a beautiful 54-year partnership filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. The couple made their home in Sayville, New York, where they built their life together before eventually retiring to Jupiter, Florida.
Ron was an avid coin collector, a gun enthusiast, and a devoted dog lover who always had a special place in his heart for his four-legged companions. A man of the grill, he enjoyed cookouts and cooking for his family. Retiring in Florida allowed for annual attendance to spring training baseball games with his son. As a Mets fan these games were pretty much the highlight of the season.
Ron was predeceased by his beloved son, John Pfister.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Lorelei Pfister; his son, Ryan Pfister and his wife Kathleen (McCoobery) and his cherished grandchildren, Olivia and Owen, who brought immense joy and pride to his later years.
Ron will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, his generous spirit, and his dedication to family, country, and community. His legacy of service, love, and commitment will continue to inspire all who knew him.
