Sonja C Leander

Sonja graduated from Roseville High School and went on to receive an Associate in Science degree from Polk Community College. She loved her children and grandchildren. She was an accomplished singer, singing in various choruses and choirs and even sang on TV in her early adulthood. She loved puppies and ice cream, enjoyed solving Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles, playing corn hole, and other games. Sonja enjoyed helping others and always greeted people with a smile. She was the beloved “copy lady” at Limestone Creek Elementary for 15 years.

Sonja is survived by two daughters, Susan Smith and her husband Dan and Stacy Salute and her husband Marc and her grandchildren; Nick Smith, Jason Smith, Kelly Salute, and Hailey Salute.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Sheri Hendricks.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 13301 Ellison Wilson Road, Juno Beach, FL 33408 on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 10:00 am. A light lunch reception will follow the service.
