Timothy P. Dale, 69, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL passed away on October 8, 2024 as a result of complications from Lewy Body Dementia. He was born on June 5, 1955 in Montpelier, Vermont; the son of Porter H. Dale II and Mary (Westover) Dale.
Tim graduated from Montpelier High School in 1973 and continued on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 1977 from Pratt Institute in New York City. He began his building career at Kessel-Duff Construction in Essex, VT. Thereafter, in 1979, Tim relocated to Boca Raton, FL where he worked for Kessel Construction. Tim obtained his General Contractor’s license in 1982. After marrying Trudy A. Quirrion and starting their family, Tim went out on his own in 1984, forming Dale Construction Corporation. The business flourished as Tim found a niche market specializing in building custom residential oceanfront homes in Palm Beach County, forged from his hard work, good name, and reputation for quality. Dale Construction became an institution revered in Manalapan, FL as Tim worked tirelessly for 30+ years until retiring in 2018. In his final days, he was still talking about how he had to go to work.
Tim had a passion for art—paintings, pottery, drawing, and photography. He was an avid collector, taking a particular interest in the Florida Highwaymen artists and their paintings—some would lovingly say he became obsessed. He took great pleasure in acquiring artwork, hence his family often felt like they were living in a museum. He had an eye for the eclectic and loved anything he thought was “funky.”
Tim also relished various genres of rock music, loudly; specifically, Todd Rundgren. In the end, even on his worst day, if you asked him who his favorite musician was, he would say, “Todd” without skipping a beat. Nothing made him happier than blaring music on his Klipsch speakers, much to the chagrin of his family.
Tim never sat still for long, constantly puttering, cleaning, organizing, or working on a little project. He was a worrywart, endlessly concerned for his family’s safety; an endearing trait he inherited from his father. Let it be known, too, that Tim readily enjoyed “clowning around” with his family and friends, a playful joke or tease at the ready, he always knew how to get a laugh. He was the happiest at his camp in Island Pond, VT, spending time with his extended family, fishing, climbing Mt. Wheeler, tending a fire, and mowing the grass. He made his last trip to Island Pond in August of 2022 where he enjoyed every sunset, his family, the best corn on the cob, and the sweetest strawberries. When he thanked his daughter for making the summer so special, he said the memories would last a lifetime.
He was predeceased by his loving and proud parents, Porter and Mary Dale. He is survived by his former wife, Trudy A. Dale, and their four children and two grandchildren: Jennifer E. Dale of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, her daughter, Vivi A. Dale; Porter H. Dale III of Palmetto, FL; Addison J. Dale and his wife Dr. Juliana S. Dale, of Bradenton, FL, their son, Oliver J. Dale; and Zachary A. Dale of Silverthorne, CO. In addition to his immediate family, Tim is also survived by his three siblings, Chris D. Dale of Lincoln, MA; Peter A. Dale of Montpelier, VT; and Susan (Dale) Kenyon of Westborough, MA.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tim’s memory may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Fund of the American Brain Foundation, Trustbridge Hospice of Palm Beach County, or charity of choice that would honor his life.
The family is holding a private Celebration of Life with a burial planned in Island Pond, VT for summer 2025.
