

Born in Rosebank, Staten Island, he attended PS13, McKee H.S., Staten Island Community College and City College of N.Y. Uptown where he obtained his Mechanical Engineering Degree in 1969. Bill moved from Staten Island in 1969 to West Palm Beach Florida where he was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft as a Project Engineer for 32 years retiring in 2001. He held a variety of positions at Pratt. He was Engineering Manager for all F100-100/200/220 engines, worldwide, which powers the F15 and F16 aircraft for his last seven years of Pratt service. Bill received 2 Patents for aircraft engine inventions.
Bill married Linda Sue Ulrich, (nee Sienicki), his high school sweetheart, in September 1969. Linda passed away Nov. 15, 2016 after 47 wonderful years of marriage. Father of 2 boys, William J. (Amanda) and Thomas W. Ulrich. Bill cherished his three grandchildren, Christian, Zachary and Sophia. Bill has one brother, James W. Ulrich of Staten Island NY. He also has many nieces, nephews and cousins in several states.
Bill was an avid baseball player on Staten Island in his younger days playing on many teams. He had the privilege of playing on the last non-major league baseball team that played at the Brooklyn Dodger's Ebbets Field in 1959 before it was demolished in 1960. This was a championship game for the St. Joseph's CYO team of Rosebank. He also played several championship games at Cooperstown Doubleday Field and was selected by his team as a contestant for a short-lived TV quiz program (Happy Felton's "It's a HIT") in 1957.
Bill loved to fish. His Aluminum boat known as "Heavy Metal" was known to many Riviera Beach, FL. Sailfish Marina Charter Captains and patrons as well as many other local fishermen. He spent many a patient hour trolling off the Palm Beach Coast.
He was also very involved with the antique auto hobby. Learning the auto-body trade at his uncle's body shop in the mid-1960's, Bill restored many of his friend’s cars over the years. He was the proud owner of his first car, which he still owns. He became friends with many car enthusiasts over the years and attended a considerable number of car shows around the country.
Bill will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Aycock-Riverside Funeral and Cremation Center, 1112 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458, followed by a funeral service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
