Alma is predeceased by her husband, John Kaupalolo Jr., and daughters, Arvis Mililani (Leroy) Kai and Diana Lou Kaupalolo Robinson. She is survived by her sons, John (Cheryl) Kaupalolo III, Carl Michael (Barbara) Kaupalolo; daughter, Ermine Leilani Serrano; brother, Melvin Spencer; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Alma spent the greater part of her life in Pauwela and Haiku. She attended Haiku School and Maui High School. For 19 years, spanning 1949-1968, Alma worked for Libby McNeil and Haserat canneries until they closed. She then worked briefly at the Maui Hilton. Alma retired as the Executive Housekeeper of the Maalaea Surf in 1991, after a 17 year tenure.
She loved music, gardening, going to church, studying the Bible and spending time with her family.
Special thanks to Annette DeLima, NP, Dr. Keyes, the wonderful nurses at Kaiser Wailuku Clinic and the Kaiser Home Health Care staff. Our appreciation and thanks also go out to Dr. Bush and the nurses of Maui Memorial Medical Center for the kindness they showed our family.
