Bard attended Punahou School and graduated from the University of Hawaii. Bard served his country as a Lieutenant in Vietnam. Bard spent most of his working career as a Paniolo. He worked at Kahua and Ulupalakua Ranches and was a Manager at Haleakala Ranch where he retired. Bard was known for his big heart and love of Hawaii and its people. He had a passion for music, art, and nature. He enjoyed exploring the wilderness of Haleakala, Maui and made a number of trips to Alaska.
He is survived by his brother, Fred “Petey” (Julie) Peterson; sons, Bard E. (Corinne) Peterson and Jeff (Danielle) Peterson; two granddaughters, Lilinoe and Meleana. He is also survived by ohana Susan and Willie Wachter and numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Services will be held at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Private reception to follow.
