Benjamin “Uncle Ben” Torres, 76, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Hilo Medical Center. Private services will be held. Born in Hilo, he retired as a Masonry for E.E. Black Construction on O’ahu. He is survived by his wife Rosemarie Torres of Mountain View; son David (Beatrice) Torres of Kailua-Kona; daughters Bernadette (Thomas) Salas of Hilo; Gertrude Dorr Malupo of Washington; stepsons Harold Joseph (Michelle) Germano Jr. of Kailua-Kona, Olival J. (Vicky) Germano of Hilo, Tom G. (Dawn) Germano of Hilo, Anthony (Janice) Maldonado of Hilo; sisters Mabel Garcia of Hilo, Bella Flores of Hilo, Josephine (Howard) Nash of Hilo, Barbara Jackson of Hilo, Betty Lou Torres of Hilo ; 27 grandchildren ; 18 great grandchildren; Numerous nieces and nephews.
