Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Monday September 24 at St. Anthony Church with a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Ballard Family Mortuary (440 Ala Makani St. Kahului), Lanai Room.
Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday September 25 at Maui Veteran’s Cemetery in Makawao.
Ernie was born August 27, 1945 in Wailuku. He is survived by his wife, Denise Rubin; a son, Jonathan Tanji; a daughter, Danica Woo; a stepdaughter, Sharleen Rubin; a stepson, Brian Rubin; a brother, Roger Sanchez; two sisters, Lenora (James) Ferreira and Ruth Duran; and ten grandchildren.
