
John “Moku” Kealiʻihanahulu Kealiʻinohomoku of Kahului died peacefully at Maui Memorial Hospital surrounded by his Ohana on July 28, 2015. John was born in Napo’opo’o, Big Island on September 12, 1932 and grew up in Waimanalo and Nanakuli on Oahu. He started working for Hawaiian Electric in 1955 as a lineman; in 1972 transferred to Maui Electric where he remained until he retired as superintendent of construction in 1990.
John was preceded in death by his mother Lydia “Mama Hale” Wahinemaikaʻi Hale and father Thomas Kapalikawohakapaniokala Kealiʻinohomoku, his brother, Thomas Keali’inohomoku and sisters, Lavern Olivera and Shirley Leslie. John is survived by his wife of 58 years Roberta Leinani Ahlo Kealiʻinohomoku, five children and one hanai, Johnalynn Haleakahau’oli Kealiʻinohomoku Wichman (Chipper) of Kauai, John Kealiʻihanahulu Kealiʻinohomoku Jr (Barbara) of California, Jason Pomaika’i Kealiʻinohomoku (Mirion) of Oregon, Robin Leihuanani Kerr of Maui, and Robert Haʻaheo Kealiʻinohomoku (Laurie) of Maui, Dawn (Michael) Meadows of Oregon as well as 17 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is on Sunday, Aug. 23, 2015, at Ballard Family Mortuary Chapel in Kahului beginning at 9:30 a.m. with services to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Valley Isle Memorial Park in Haiku following the services. The family suggests casual attire.
