
John was a retired farmer and cement mason (Local 502, Chicago, Illinois) after having been disabled in a farming accident 32 years ago. He was an active member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in McHenry, Illinois for 42 years where he served as an usher for most of those years. He also has attended Trinity Episcopal Church By the Sea in Kihei, Maui for 20 years. John was also a 55 year member of The Couples Club of Illinois and was a Cursellista having made his Cursellio 32 years ago in Illinois. His family, farm, Maui, and many friends were dear to his heart.
John was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Fiali and Elizabeth Helicka of Romania and Chicago, Illinois; siblings, Sebastian Killian (Elizabeth “Alice”) Fiali, Joseph (Elizabeth “Betty”) Fiali, Frank Fiali, and Katherine (George) Neumer; nephew, Sebastian Killian Fiali Jr.; and great-nephew, James “Jamie” Elomin.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta N. Lockerbie Fiali of Kihei, Maui and McHenry, Illinois; son, Rory John (Bonnie) Fiali of McHenry, Illinois; grand-daughters, Brandie Nicole Fiali (Kyle) Mai of Wonder Lake, Illinois, and Danielle Fiali of McHenry, Illinois; great-grandsons, Mason Mikel Mai, and Evan Thomas Mai of Wonder Lake, Illinois; nieces, Joanne Fiali (Jack) Walsh of Fort Meyers, Florida, Jeanine (John) Randazzo of Ramona, California, and Paula Fiali of Chicago, Illinois; 8 great nieces and nephews; and 9 great-great nieces & nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church By the Sea, at 100 Kulanihakoi Street in Kihei.
