Kahanumeaola Kalawakaeaokanai Rabang

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Kahanumeaola Kalawakāʻeʻaokanaʻi Rabang, age 10, of Hāna, Maui and Hilo, Hawaiʻi, who passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Kapi‘olani Children’s Medical Center in Honolulu.

Kahanu was born on September 3, 2014 in San Diego, California. He was the true definition of a warrior, bravely facing cancer head-on with resilience, courage, and perseverance as he fought till the very end.

A celebration of Kahanu’s life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Hāʻōʻū family home in Hāna (46970 Hāna Highway, Hāna, HI 96713).

Visitation begins at 9:00 AM, with a service to follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A final viewing will conclude at 1:30 PM, with a reception to follow.

Kahanu is survived by his parents: Justin Rabang of Hilo, Uilani (Patrick) Kaina of Hāna; brothers: Justin Rabang Jr., Kaʻanoʻiokauakeakilikaʻaikawaokele Kaina and Kāʻiʻīkekaheokawaipunaikahoʻīnanaikeola Kaina; sisters: Keʻāni Rabang, Kailaʻi Rabang, Kaʻelekapāhilihulilīokanahelemaʻukele Kaina, and Alizé Rabang. He is also survived by his grandparents: Michael (Deborah) Rabang of Hilo and Kenneth (Janelle Baoy) Davis of Hāna; great-grandmother: Linda Baoy of Kahului; and many beloved cousins, aunties, uncles, and extended ‘ohana.
