With heavy hearts, our "Papa," Loreto Domingo Enrique Jr. of Lahaina, Maui, passed peacefully on December 16, 2020 under the care of Hospice Maui with his family by his side. He was born in the Phillippines on May 23, 1943 to Loreto Enrique Sr. and Juliana Villanueva. He was the eldest of his eight siblings.
Drafted into the United States Army in 1968 and survived the Vietnam war. He then came to Hawaii after serving the military to find a better life for his family.
A very hardworking man that held two full-time jobs. He worked as a Rancher (Cowboy) under Pioneer Mill Co. and also held several positions as herbicide sprayer for the field, lane cutter, CDL truck driver and his last position was a Heave Equipment Operator until Pioneer Mill Co. ceased operations in 1999. He also worked the graveyard shift as a night steward at The Royal Lahaina Resort. He came out of retirement and worked for Maui Kaanapali Villas as a groundskeeper for several years.
His favorite pastime was making throw nets while listening to Country and Ilocano jams. One of his favorite things to do was tending to his garden daily. He was a rare treasure, someone who enjoyed a simplistic lifestyle. Our Papa didn't need much to make him happy.
He is survivied by his loving wife Leonila Enrique; daughter, Edna (Ronald) Balagso, sons, Edward (Kathy) and Nelson Enrique. Grandpa POPS, to Krystal (Gabriel) Cunningham & Rachael Balagso. Great-grandpa Papa Boy, to Kade, Aubrey, and Zoiey. Sisters: Aurelia Agbayani, Rosario Bartolome, Perfecta Ramos, Carolyn Haun & Doris Enrique. Brothers: Emilio, Carmelo & Rufino Villanueva.
