Pilajia Sanches

She was born in Pu’ukoli’i, Maui on October 8, 1940. She was married to Adolfo Sanches for 41 years, who predeceased her. She was a devoted mother who raised 10 children and took care of both her parents and her father-in-law.

In her later years, her children had the privilege of her living with them on Maui, Maryland and Washington. Mom’s love for traveling took her on a cruise to Alaska, trips to Canada, Disneyland, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, New York, San Diego as well as helicopter rides. She loved going to weekly movies, she loved action movies and shows like “Wipe Out”, where she would laugh for the entire show. Even though she was an amazing cook she loved to eat out! She taught us through her example in life to never give up, to forgive others and to enjoy what life brings you. She opened her heart and home to many. Her kindness and generosity will be missed by all.

Pilajia is survived by her loving children: Donna Lee (Emery), Cheryl von Kugler (Mark), Robbie Sanches (Tammy), Ryan Sanches (Jennifer), Reynette Sanches, Shelley Sanches, and her stepsons: Randy Sanches, Rod Sanches (Jeff), Ricky Sanches and Rocky Sanches (Lorna). She has been blessed with 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is predeceased by all her siblings; Mary Ledger, Rufina Harris, Anastacia Seymour, Locadio Vescaino and Bonifacio Vescaino.
