Russell Okimoto passed away at the age of 76 at home in Kula on April 17th 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. Russell is predeceased by his parents, Tokuo and Sally Okimoto, brother, Baron (Stephanie) Okimoto and sister Candace. He is survived by his loving wife, Eloise "Sweetpea" Okimoto, sister Charlene (Bull) Dela Cruz. In addition, his children, Ryan Okimoto, Michelle (John) Cabaccang, Carol Okimoto, Samuel English and Shana English and eleven grandchildren, Royce, Rebekah, Emma, Kaylynn, Brittney, Jayde, Alexander, Austin, Brian, Levi-Sharissa (Taylor) and Logan. Last but not least, four great-grandchildren, Mei, Aysia-Lynn, Ryder, and Xylah. “Papa” as many of his grandchildren called him, was a talented man whom many looked to for advice and assistance when repairs needed to be done. Russell served in the army from 1967-1969 and was in the Army Reserves until 1973. He retired from Maui Memorial Hospital as a Maintenance supervisor 15 years ago. He was a skilled carpenter, wood worker and longarm quilter. Many people admired his craftsmanship and talents and he will be greatly missed.
