Thelma Taylor’s life was not an ordinary life. She was the wife of the late Pastor Joseph K. Taylor. She had a tougher life than most, but never once complained about her hardship. She handled the many obstacles in her life with grace and dignity. She was patient, compassionate, funny and kind. Her strength and courage were amazing. She befriended everyone she came in contact with. She became lifelong friends with her doctor, her dentist, nurses, people who came to visit our church, the stranger in the store, anyone who needed a friend, and even if you didn’t know you needed a friend, she would become your friend. She became a Hanai mother to others whos mother’s had gone on before. She taught her family so much with her quiet demeanor and her gently ways. Her biggest joy was having all of her family together. She was a daughter, a sister, a mother, Aunty, Granny, friend, most mostly she was a Hero among us. Her’s is a life that will be missed. She will be forever in our Hearts.
A Hero is among us, I bet you never knew
She walked beside us everyday, with all that she’d been through
The many struggles of her life that none of us could see
The courage that she showed, taught us all how we should be
If only we had known that day, God was to call your name
It broke our hearts to know, we would never be the same.
One last prayer to be fulfilled before you answered God’s last call
For all the lives you touched, you wanted happiness for all
God whispered oh so gently that your work on earth was done
You left peacefully that afternoon, just like the setting sun
A quiet breath, one last hug, too soon we said goodbye
We could feel your presence as the day turned into night
Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay
With tearful eyes we watched as you journeyed on your way
The man you loved a lifetime, once again you now will see
So many years you waited and with him again you’ll be
You left us all those memories that we will always hold
We feel the love you had for us, we know we’re not alone.
Every eagle has to soar, it’s time for you to fly,
You’ve given us the wings we need, we’ll meet you in the sky
