William Ku'ulei Townsend, 87, of Hilo passed away on April 6, 2024 at his home in Hilo. Born in Honolulu, he was a steel and construction contractor. He started his career at Pacific Welding and Machine Works, a family business. He managed various projects renovating and repurposing buildings in Hawaii and California.In retirement, William enjoyed gardening and wood working.
William is predeceased by his wife, Joanne Townsend; and daughter, Keau Isomura; survived by sons, George Puni (Barbara) Townsend, Timothy (Leonora) Walsh, and Michael (Sue Swanson) Walsh; daughter, Sharon (Robert) Alapai; brother in law, Agenhart Ellis; sisters, Ululani (Hagi) Young, Marion (Billy) Makaimoku, Charlotte (Ted Lazaga) Townsend and Marcy (Richard) Marchan; 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Celebration of Life to be held on Saturday June 22nd at Onekahakaha Beach, Pavilions #2, #3 at 11:00am.Scattering of Ashes to be held on Sunday June 23rd at Keauhou Harbor at 1:00pm.
