It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Carol Ann Ostrikoff, who died at her home in Scotch Creek, BC on July 6, 2025, after a courageous 30-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Carol was born on September 15, 1951, in Kamloops, BC. She met and then married her husband Mike on August 4, 1973. She spent much of her life in Kamloops, enjoying lake life on the Shuswap and winters under the Arizona sun. Carol was a vibrant woman who embraced life fully—strong-willed, independent, and never one to back down from a challenge.
She was predeceased by her father John Weisbeck, her mother Mary Weisbeck, and her brother Donald Weisbeck. Carol is survived by her loving husband Mike Ostrikoff; sons Chris (Michelle) and Ryan (Rebecca); her adored grandchildren Megan, Emma, Amira, and Jacob; and her brothers Rodney (Lynette) Weisbeck and Reverend Fr. Fred Weisbeck.
Carol’s career at the BC Lottery Corporation was a testament to her determination and hard work. Starting as a scratch lottery ticket counter, she quickly became known for her exceptional accuracy and dedication—setting company records along the way. Through perseverance and talent, Carol advanced to an executive position, serving as Executive Secretary to the Finance Director. Her journey from the counting room to an executive role was one she took great pride in, inspiring those around her with her professionalism, loyalty, and sharp wit.
As a mother, Carol was always there to support her children. She balanced a full-time job, helping her boys with their homework, driving them to multiple after-school activities, and was always there to support them. She challenged her children to do their best, and their successes in life are attributed to the work ethic she instilled in them.
Carol had a natural gift for bringing people together. She loved entertaining and made every guest feel at home—often serving so many appetizers that no one had room left for dinner. She was passionate about gardening and canning, filling shelves with the food she lovingly grew and preserved. Her home was always full—of laughter, warmth, and the comforting smell of something good on the stove.
Even as Parkinson’s disease progressed, Carol’s spirit never wavered. She continued to find joy in everyday life, especially in a good game of crib. Though she might need help shuffling the cards, she’d still beat you without mercy—and smile the whole way through. That spark, that resilience, defined her.
Carol’s strength, humor, and fierce love for her family will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of determination, hard work, generosity, and joy.
A celebration of Carol’s life and Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Kamloops, BC, on Thursday July 17, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. A short reception will follow Mass.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to Parkinson Canada – Carol’s family would greatly appreciate this.
