It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my wife Norah Miner in her 73rd year at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice in Kamloops on Tuesday, February 18th.
Beloved wife of Steven Miner. Dear mother to daughter Caitlen Dickenson (husband Matt) and stepmother of son Sean Miner (wife Christina). Loving grandmother to Alivia Dickenson and Hazley Miner; dear sister of Sheelagh Witham Carrol (Brian), Richard and George Witham; Sister-in-law to Dale and Marlayne Miner. She was predeceased by her mother Marjorie and father John Witham as well as brothers John and Harold Witham.
Norah worked as a registered nurse for 25 years starting her career at Porcupine General, moving to St. Mary’s and later to Home Care all in Timmins ON. After moving to Sudbury ON. in 2001 she worked at several long-term care facilities. In 2009 she continued her career in Windsor ON. working again at a long-term care facility. She retired from nursing in 2012 after moving to Kamloops, BC. She was a caring and compassionate nurse and strong patient advocate.
The love of her life was her grandchildren. Even as her illness was progressing, she always made time to talk and visit with them. Taking vacations and making road trips were another enjoyment. She loved to shop and would often be called upon for her opinion when a friend or family member was considering a purchase.
I would like to thank the staff at Kelowna General Hospital cancer treatment as well as Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops. Your dedication and compassion are boundless. Thank you to the staff at Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice who helped to ease the suffering of Norah and family members in her last few days. A special thank you to Dr. Jeevyn Chahal, Norah’s family physician. You are a very special person. I would also like to thank all the numerous friends who stepped up to ease the burden. You know who you are and have my eternal gratitude.
Love never dies. We are spirits living a human existence
