Our family is saddened to share news of the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Norma Merrilynn McCormick (Bradford), on August 1 2025 at the age of 88. She is survived by her children Kenny, Pam (Rob), and Susan, her grandchildren Heather (Jamie), Myles (Katie), Leah, (Mike), (Kayla)and Colin; and great-grandchildren Lynden, Leland, and Bradford, Aiden, Tatyana, Arhianna, and Sage. She is predeceased by her husband Ken.
Norma Bradford (known as Honey Gramma to her grandchildren) was born on Dec 12th, 1936 in Cranbrook, BC. She spent her childhood in Cranbrook and Radium Hot Springs, BC, with her parents Gertrude and Marna Bradford, and six siblings: Joanne, Sylvia, Winker (Leland), Nipper (Wayne), Marna, and Miles.
It was in Radium, while working at the pool, where she first met her husband Ken. Ken and Norma married in 1956, and honeymooned at Grand Coulee Dam in Washington. They settled down in Radium, where their three children were born: Kenny in 1957, Pam in 1960, and Susan in 1961.
In 1965, the family moved to Ottawa, where Norma worked for Revenue Canada. In 1973, they made the move to Kamloops, eventually settling in their home in Barnhartvale. In 1974, Norma started a job with Weyerhauser, where she stayed until her retirement in 2001.
Norma and Ken had a shared passion for square dancing, and danced together in Ottawa, and Kamloops as part of the Kami Swingers Square Dance Club. They also loved travelling together, often taking long road trips to the family farm in Wasa, BC, driving back east to visit family, and enjoying a few cruises together. They also loved spending time at Adams Lake with the whole family, where the water was always a little too cold for swimming, but they always had fun playing cards, sitting by the campfire, and enjoying the views.
In her retirement, Norma enjoyed spending time at her home. She could often be found sitting in her special chair, sipping on black coffee and watching her favourite shows, Little house on the Prairie, Gunsmoke and Murder She Wrote. When she wasn’t watching those, she was probably watching her favourite movie of all time, Forrest Gump on VHS. We will all miss our visits with Honey Gramma, and remember to live by her motto–always eat dessert first.
