Terri was born March 7, 1978, in Kamloops BC and was a Lower Nicola Band Member. She grew up in Merritt, BC and from a young age, she always wanted to help others. Terri was an only child and talked about her many memories with her cousins growing up.
Terri attended Central Elementary School where she lovedsports and excelled at playing baseball, rugby and bowling. Although Bingo wasn’t a school sport, she was a regular bingo goer with her mom, aunties and gramma.
Terri attended high school at the Merritt Secondary School where she graduated in 1996. After graduation she pursued further education at Sprott Shaw Community College and received her Resident Care Aid certificate.
In 2000, Terri was living on Vancouver Island working at a fish hatchery. In early 2001, Terri went to visit and help her friend atthe carnival for a weekend, this is where she met her future husband, Jim. Terri and Jim travelled together until the carnival reached Yellowknife, where they found out they were going to be parents. Jim and Terri decided that it would be better for Terri not to travel during her pregnancy, so she returned to Lower Nicola while Jim continued working on the road. As many of you know, they often used the phrase, “Love you to Yellowknife and Back.”
After Jim was off the road, they continued residing in Lower Nicola. In 2003 Jim and Terri welcomed their 1st born Sophie into the world, Terri was overjoyed to begin this next chapter as a new mom and was so proud to share Sophies love for animals and specifically her passion for horses and show jumping.
On August 16th, 2003, Jim and Terri married in Merritt. Their marriage has been built on unwavering devotion and deep love, where every glance, touch, and word was a testament to their bond that only grew stronger with each passing day for the past 24 years.
Terri and Jim made the move to Rocky Mountain House in 2004 and in 2005 they welcomed their 2nd daughter, Megan into the world. Terri knew immediately Megan was going to be a force to be reckoned with and loved sharing all of Megans accomplishments.
After a couple years, they moved back to Lower Nicola and Terri worked at Starbucks for a brief period before starting her career at the Lower Nicola Indian Band. Terri began her career in the Education Department.
During this time, while settling in Rocky Pines, Dominic and Evan joined the family. Terri had a heart of gold and made sure they were welcomed with open arms and accepted and treated the boys like her own. Terri always said the boys completed their family.
She later joined the Communications team (External & Digital)at the Lower Nicola Indian Band. Terri loved serving her community and excelled in her position up until her passing.
Terri’s love and devotion to her family extended into her community, where she became a pillar of support and encouragement to many. Her friends and coworkers remember her infectious laughter, her ability to listen without judgment, and her tireless willingness to help whenever someone was in need. Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and boundless generosity—a legacy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
We all knew Terri as a kind, courageous woman with greatstrength. Even when she faced the most difficult times after being diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension in 2019, she never let it define her. Instead, she lived with purpose, helping others—and in her final act of generosity, Terri chose to be an organ donor so others might have hope and life through her gift.
