Urban Louis Rolin

Urban Louis Rolin passed away in Kamloops on February 5th, 2025 at the age of 94. Urb was born in Lashburn, Saskatchewan on September 4th, 1930; the eldest of four sons of Margaret and Louis Rolin.

Urb is survived and sadly missed by his wife of 71 years Enid of Kamloops and son Bruce (Helen) of Sydney Australia, grandchildren Courtney and Michael (Lucy) also of Sydney Australia, sisters-in-law Janet and Dorothy as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by daughter Diane, parents Louis and Margaret and brothers Lefty, Ken and Garry.

Urb's family moved to Salmon Arm, BC area in 1943. He attended school at North Broadview and graduated from Salmon Arm High School. He worked for BC Forest Service for three years, married the love of his life Enid Stewart in 1953 and in 1954, he began a 34-year career with Trans Mountain Pipeline Co. progressing over the years from Pipeliner to District Manager. His career took him to Blue River, Brookmere, Kamloops, Jasper, and Edmonton with daughter Diane and son Bruce being born along the way.

The family spent 21 years in Jasper where Urb was Maintenance Supervisor for the Pipeline, and he was very active in the community. He coached Little League Baseball, worked with the Cubs and Scouts, Minor Sports and served on the United Church Board and Recreation Board. He was an avid curler and was awarded a Life Membership at the Jasper Curling Club.

In 1982, he became Division Manager for Trans Mtn in Edmonton and then transferred to Kamloops in 1986. He was a Director of the Kamloops Curling Club and later the 60+ Club. He was also very active in the Seniors Slo-Pitch League as a player, manager and coach.

Urb was well liked and respected by all for his competence, courtesy, fairness and genuine concern for others.

The family would like to thank the Royal Inland Hospital’s Doctors, nurses and staff, especially those on 7 North, for their care in Urb’s final weeks.
