

Lorraine Gladys Gonsalves, age 92, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025, in Kailua, HI. Lorraine was born December 30, 1932, in Pahala, HI to Joseph and Margaret (DeMello) DeCosta. Lorraine graduated from St. Francis High School in 1952 and then attended nursing school in Honolulu. She started her nursing career at St. Francis Hospital where she worked for many years before moving to Castle Hospital in Kailua. She then worked at Hawaii Physicians & Exchange as a private nurse until 2002. She married her sweetheart Walter on June 12, 1954, at St. George's Church in Waimanalo, HI.
Lorraine was a devoted wife, loving mother, adoring grandma, loyal friend and amazing nurse. Remembered for her boundless energy and creativity, she brought joy to so many with her sewing creations, beaded necklaces, flower arrangements and ceramics. Lorraine was a great cook, specializing in malasadas, noodles, and roast meat. She loved Christmas, strawberries, her red care and everything red.
Lorraine is survived by her daughter Beverly (John) DeBono, grandson, Christopher DeBono, her sister Frances Kirkland and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her husband Walter Gonsalves, her father Joseph DeCosta and mother Margaret Gouveia, her brothers Joseph and Raymond DeCosta, and sisters Laverne (Silva), Shirley (Anderson) and Faith DeCosta.
A chapel service for Lorraine will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Hawaiian Memorial Park Funeral Services, 45-425 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, Hawaii 96744. A Veterans Committal Service will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery, 45-349 Kamehameha Highway, Kaneohe, HI 96744.
