January 1, 1948 – May 24, 2025
Mario Eduardo Di Bella, father, brother, grandpa or "nonno," and friend, passed away in the early hours of May 24, 2025, at the age of 77, at his home in Honolulu, Hawaii, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mario was born in Castelbuono, Italy to Giuseppe Di Bella and Rosaria Venturella. As a young man, he served in the Italian Armed Forces before working as a tile setter in Prato, Italy. There, he met his future wife, a Hawaii resident who was a college student studying abroad. He moved to Hawaii in his mid-20s after getting married, where he built a life rooted in optimism and joy.
Mario found community working as a school bus driver for many years, followed by a career as a tour bus driver. He loved meeting people, sightseeing around the island, and learning and teaching tourists about the beautiful, local places that he learned to call home.
Mario is survived by his children, Sarah and Amanda; their mother, Debby; his beloved grandchildren, Luca and Bella; and his siblings in Italy, Enzo and Concetta. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Gino and Silvana.
A private memorial will be held with family and friends. The family would like to express their deep appreciation for your love and support during this time.
