Paul was born in Honolulu,Oahu on July 6, 1943 to Lena and Paul Kaopua.
Paul was protective of his family and close friends. He loved to watch his children and grandchildren grow up and participate in their extracurricular activities.
In his early years Paul played high school sports such as football and track & field. He also enjoyed spending time at the beach and going for drives with his family. Throughout the years you could count on Paul to have the latest music for everyone to enjoy no matter the genre.
In his later years he could be found in the stands watching University of Hawaii Sports or his grandchildren's sporting activity that weekend.
Paul was a dedicated worker at Love’s and Foremost prior to starting his own business. There was “no job too big or small” for Paul when he founded Kaopua’s General Services providing exceptional landscaping island wide. Paul's passion for greenery was on full display throughout his home, which was curated with delicate strands of Pele’s hair, vibrant anthuriums and elegant orchids.
Paul enjoyed eating his favorite foods. A few that come to mind were sweets from Kamehameha Bakery, Li-Hing Mui, Chinese Oyster Sauce Noodles, L&L Chicken Katsu and the occasional adult beverage.
Paul has five children: Kippy, Ann-Marie (Jerome), Daven, Kavett (Leilani), and Quincey; twelve grandchildren: Ielome, Breana-Malia, Zen, Zion, Zia, CJ (James), Kira, Kika, Kalae, Kingston, Jameson, and Bailey; and one great-grandson Luca.
Paul is predeceased by his parents, Paul Kaopua, Lena Mendonca, and son Paul “Kippy” Kaopua.
