Sol is survived by his wife of 42 years, Jeanne, children Solomon Posner and Jourdan McMillan (Ian), and two beautiful granddaughters Isla and Nora McMillan.
He is predeceased by his parents Marvin and Eleanor Posner and sister Kathy Hill.
Born in Springfield, Illinois, his family moved to Rocky River, Ohio when Sol was very young. There he formed many lifelong friendships.
After a short stint in the navy, Sol travelled around the US. He eventually landed in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where more lifelong friendships were made. Sol worked at La Hacienda restaurant and was the Master Sopaipilla maker. New Mexico is also where he found his love for red and green chile – a meal wasn't the same without chile.
In July 1979, Sol arrived on Oahu for what was meant to be a short trip. But Hawaii turned out to be his forever home – the blue skies and beautiful people made him never want to leave.
Sol had the gift of gab. He could speak to anyone about anything. Whether he was working as a cook/manager at Chuck's Restaurant, selling cars at Mazda Porsche Audi or Saturn, or serving subpoenas for the city, he took the time to connect with people.
He was the Mayor at the gym. Mr. Aloha. Always cheerful and taking the time to chat with anyone. Of course some days that meant not much working out or longer gym times.
In his conversations the thing that made him light up was sharing about Solomon and Jourdan. He was such a proud father watching them become caring, responsible, intelligent human beings. They were his proudest accomplishment. He loved them deeply.
Sol's final hours were with the ones who loved him most. His passing leaves an unimaginable void in our lives.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Ala Moana Beach Park (Magic Island). More details to follow.
