

Sylvia “Silly” Keikilani Silva beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend passed away at the age of 75 at Adventist Health Castle Hospital in Kailua, Hawaii surrounded by her family and friends on January 6, 2026.
Sylvia was born on March 27, 1950, to the late Edith Paahau Johnston Henriques and Robert J. Silva, Sr. She was born and raised in Kāneʻohe on the island of Oʻahu and was the fourth of six children. She was the sister of the late Paul “Butch” Kapuniai Jr., the late Wanetta Kapuniai Hee, Gay Silva Iijima, the late Robert “Robbie” J. Silva Jr., and the late Fay Johnston Oliva.
Sylvia attended Kāneʻohe Elementary School and later Castle High School from 7th through 11th grade, participating with the Class of 1968. Although she did not complete her senior year at Castle High School, she later earned her GED.
Sylvia is a proud and dedicated retired employee for the City & County of Honolulu, Department of Community Services (DCS), Work Hawaii Division. Sylvia was employed for over 35+ years in the social services field assisting people for training and employment.
She began her career with the Honolulu Community Action Program (HCAP) as a clerk typist. Then moved to the City & County, DCS, Work Hawaii Division as a Case Manager under the Comprehensive Employment Training Act (CETA) and Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA). Her final role was the Dillingham Center Manager for Oʻahu Work Links. Sylvia retired in November 2012.
Sylvia is survived by her sister, Gay (Jeffrey) Iijima; 9 nephews; 5 nieces; 8 grandnephews; 14 grandnieces; 14 great-grandnephews; and 10 great-grandnieces.
