

Arthur ‘A.J.’ Drury, Jr., 67, formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, passed from this life unexpectedly on May 30, 2017 in Naples, Florida. A Memorial Gathering to celebrate his life will be from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, June 10th at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street in Kansas City, Kansas.
A.J. was born October 13, 1949 in Kansas City, Kansas to Arthur J. Drury, Sr., and Frances (Paulsen) Drury. He was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas, and lived here well into his adult life, before moving to Florida in 1984. He was a Truck Driver for White Sands Asphalt Company in Kansas City, and continued as one upon his arrival in Florida until he became a Heavy Equipment Operator for Collier County, where he remained for 17 years, before retiring. He married his beloved wife, Judy Cornwell Drury, in a small country church in Kansas on October 2, 1982 and they enjoyed 34 years together.
A.J. had a big, loving heart toward all people. He was active at the Corkscrew Baptist Church, traveling to Haiti and the Bahamas on several mission trips, as well as working in their prison ministry. He was a Volunteer Firefighter for the Corkscrew Fire Department from 1986 to 1996, and he enjoyed fishing, watching western movies, and he recently found his creative side. As it turns out, he’s not only talented Artist, creating many scenic paintings for his family and friends, but also a fine Photographer and Digital Photo Editor.
He was preceded in death by his son, Arthur J. Drury III, in 2000; brother, Bill Drury and sister, Judy McCowan.
Left behind to mourn his passing are his wife, Judy of the home; daughter, Lori McCleary and her husband Rick of Holden, Missouri; four grandchildren, Ricky McCleary, Jr. of Kansas City, Kansas, Matthew Scott McCleary of Edgerton, Kansas, Jessica Lynn Drury and A.J. Drury, both of Kansas City, Kansas; five great-grandchildren, Tre Espy Roschevitz, Rick McCleary, III, Zoey McCleary, Caleb McCleary and Isaac McCleary; brother, Ted Drury of Merriam, Kansas; and sister, Kaye Wycoff of Paola, Kansas.
