

Betty Lou Pollock, 83, of Overland Park, KS., passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Overland Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. Burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the Funeral Home. A luncheon for family and friends will be served at Break Pointe Community Church 10001 West 88th Street Overland Park, KS. Betty was born on Easter Sunday, April 17, 1927 in Kansas City, KS to Denzel and Ferril Mildred (George) Bien. She graduated from Washington Rural High School and was a member of the Hoskins All Girl Band. Betty attended William Jewell College and received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She maintained lifetime friendships from college and from high school. She had served as PTA president at Edwardsville Elementary School in the late 60’s, choir director at Welborn Baptist Church in the early 70’s, President and area Governor of Toast Master International, and a lifetime member of the DAV Auxiliary. She worked at Guaranty State Bank before getting married and shortly at the Internal Revenue Service before starting a family. During the 70’s and early 80’s she sold real estate in both Wyandotte and Johnson County. Nothing gave her more pleasure than working in her flower garden, her love for animals, and being around small children. Betty had a beautiful voice and had sung solos for weddings, funerals and at church. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, and husband; Lawrence Charles Pollock. Survivors include her daughter; Jennifer J. De La Fuente and her husband Ed of Overland Park, KS, and son; Dr. Denzel Pollock and his wife Dafna of Ambler, PA. She will be sadly missed by her three grandchildren; Liel Pollock, Tali Pollock, and Ben Pollock. Betty is also survived by her sister in-law; Ethel Gower of Gladstone, MO., and brother in-law; Lyle Smith and his wife Diane of Olathe, KS.
