Cecelia Elizabeth Shepherd

Cecelia E. Shepherd, 83, of Kansas City, KS, passed away October 10, 2021. Memorial services will be 2:00pm, Saturday, October 23rd at Chapel Hill – Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, KS 66112, with inurnment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Cecelia was born July 3, 1938 in Des Moines, IA. She married Leland Shepherd on Sept. 10. 1960 and worked for several years as a nurse before leaving to take care of her home. Cecelia also spent time as a childcare provider over the years. She was very active in her church, the Reorganized Latter Day Saints, volunteering in the prison ministries, helping with Vacation Bible School, and participating in the women’s group. Cecelia also enjoyed bowling and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son-in-law, Mark Lane; and her brothers, Rudy, Raymond, John, Tony, and David Hurtado and Charlie Luna.

Cecelia is survived by her husband of 61 years, Leland Shepherd; her daughters, Judith Lane, Connie Faye Sparks and her husband Timothy, and Alicia Strange and her husband Mike; her grandchildren, Amber Marie Leahy, Tristina Gonzalez and her children Gabriella Allen and Nolen Gonzalez, Jessica Wilson and her husband Derek, Tiffany Rowe and her husband Eric and their children Keigan and Kyah, and Wendell Pritchett and his wife Honey and their children Paxtynne and Phoenix; her brothers, Henry Hurtado, Joe Hurtado, Jesse Luna, Ralph Luna and John Luna; as well as many other relatives and friends.
