Charles David Jones

Charles David Jones, 54, passed away September 8, 2015. A visitation will be held Saturday, September 12th from 1:00-2:00PM with the funeral service to follow at 2:00PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas, 66112. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Charles was born August 11, 1961 to Charles W. and Laverne (Bardwell) Jones. He spent his life in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating from Wyandotte High School and Kansas City Kansas Community College. Charles attended Strangers Rest Baptist Church and Lenexa Christian Church in his later years. He was married to Ava (Miller) Jones for 23 years. Charles worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and was a member of the National Postal Mail Handlers Union. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking, taking apart and fixing anything he could find, caring for his flowers and plants, as he had quite the green thumb and also spending time with his children and grandchild.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and Laverne; aunts, Brenda Syrus and Lenora Hankins; and uncle, Howard Bardwell, Jr.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Joyce (Derek) McGrew, Darren (Marissa) Jones, Kayla and Keisha Jones; brothers, James S. Bardwell and Michael Jones; grandson, Juwan Jones; and Ava Jones as well as a host of family and friends.
