This September 11th, 2023, Charles K McFarland, Retired Petty Officer 1st Class CE1, took his final breath at 78 years of age, surrounded by loved ones. The sun rose and the world welcomed Charles, or Mac as he was commonly and lovingly referred to, on September 22nd, 1944, in Natchitoches, Louisiana, a day the world became a little brighter. Mac lived a full and warm life, filled with joy, happiness, love, and his undying service to his country.
Mac served in the Army, for 8 years, Marine Corps, for 16 years, Navy Seebees for 16 years, during which he also served as Warrant Officer in the Aquarian division of the Sea Cadets, for a total of 40 years in the United States Armed Forces. During his time in the Army and Marines, Mac served bravely during the Vietnam War. Throughout his Military career Mac demonstrated exceptional courage and resilience earning the prestigious Purple Heart, Mac will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.
Mac is survived by his beloved wife, Anna McFarland of 55 years, who stood by his side through thick and thin, supporting him in his noble endeavors. Survived by his son Charles Wayne McFarland. Mac’s two grandchildren Pamela (Antonio Hernandez) and Wayne (Jenifer) McFarland as well as his 5 great grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Jenessa, Juliana, Damien, Adeline, and Arya. He is proceeded in death by his father Charles I McFarland, mother Virgina McFarland, and siblings, Richard McFarland, Neal McFarland, and Sue M. Bailey. Mac is also survived by his siblings, Roberta McFarland, Ann McFarland, Ellen McFarland, Ray McFarland, and Jerry McFarland.
May Mac rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to shine brightly in our hearts and minds as he has now joined forces with the angels.

A visitation for Charles will be held Tuesday, September 26, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Chapel Hill - Butler Funeral Home, 701 North 94th Street, Kansas City, KS 66112.

A graveside service will occur Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 1:30 PM at Leavenworth National, 150 Muncie Road, Leavenworth, KS 66048.
