

Charles “J.R” Quigley, 83, passed away September 12, 2013. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 19th from 5:00-6:00 PM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday, September 20th at 10:00 AM at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
J.R. was born to Hewie and Lily Quigley on November 14, 1929 in Warsaw, MO. He was a long time resident of Kansas City and resident of MO before that. J.R. married Velda Bristow in 1948. He worked at GM for 31.5 years and retired in 1981. He belonged to UAW Local 31. J.R. enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and went to many festivals and concerts. He played bass in “Blue Grass Attack” and pecked on guitars.
J.R. was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Quigley and sister, Thelma Snelling. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Velda; daughters, Linda (Robert “Pete”) Knecht and Barbara (Kenneth) Courtin; sons, Roger (Robin) Quigley and David (Gina) Quigley; brothers, Herbert (Lois) Quigley and Kenneth (Lucille) Quigley; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
