

Mrs. Claudette Davis, was born in Helena, Arkansas on February 7, 1939 and was called home on January 2, 2014. She was the first born of four children to the late Napoleon and Rosetta Dyer. She was preceded in death by her brother Michael J. Dyer Sr. and her sister Joyce A. Glover. She was united in marriage to the late Alf Davis on November 7, 1977.
As a young lady she worked as head cashier for A & P and Super Duper Grocery Stores in charge of traveling from store to store training new employees. She later worked as a dispatcher for Checker Cab Company. In 2000, she worked at the Foster Grandparent Program helping disadvantaged children. She provided love, encouragement and championship to each child on a one on one basis. In 2005, Claudette moved to Belleville, Illinois where she worked at the St. Clair Juvenile Detention Center. She processed the paper work for each child.
She loved to watch football especially the Kansas City Chiefs, reading Western books, going fishing and gardening. She was a devoted grandmother who would listen to her grandchildren and give them advice. She later rededicated her life to Christ and became a member of Roswell Church of Christ.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory three sons and three daughters: Donald Estell Dyer Sr.(Tammy) of College Stations, Texas, Jessie Edwards Jr. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Maurice Edwards (Angela) of O'Fallon, Illinois, Marie Nash (Eddie) of Shawnee, Kansas, Brenda Bonton (Johnny) of Loganville, Georgia and Tanyece Stephens (Phillip) of Pine Lake, Georgia.
Claudette also leaves her brother, David Dyer of Denver, Colorado, twenty-six grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Roswell Church of Christ located at 2900 Roswell Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. Visitation: Friday, January 10th, 6-8 p.m. at Mrs. J.W. Jones Memorial Chapel at 703 North 10th Street in Kansas City, Kansas. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, Kansas.
