Cynthia “Cindy” Rose Margaret Deeds, 60, passed away unexpectedly on January 5th, 2026. Cindy was a deeply loving wife, mother, and grandmother who made others feel they always had her love and support. She was known for her kindness, selflessness, generosity, and for the steady way she showed up for the people she loved.
Born on January 10, 1965, in Kansas City, Missouri, Cindy was the daughter of Joseph and Juanita Markus. She graduated from J.C. Harmon High School in 1983 and spent her life caring for others in many ways. Over the years she held a variety of roles, including customer service, insurance underwriting, childcare and daycare work. No matter the job title, her gift was the same. She was dependable, protective, and deeply caring, with a special tenderness for babies. If you were little and near her, you were safe and cared for. She had a way of making children feel calm and families feel supported, and she left a lasting mark on many lives.
Faith was important to Cindy throughout her life. Her faith was reflected in how she lived and how she loved. She volunteered through church, helping serve meals and support community dinners, always willing to help wherever she was needed.
Cindy cherished holidays, especially Christmas, and any gathering that brought family together. She loved cruising and also enjoyed traveling, whether to the Caribbean or to Branson, Missouri, especially when she could share those trips with her husband. She found joy in being with family, making memories, and creating a sense of warmth and togetherness wherever she was.
Above all, Cindy was proud of her son and her grandson. She lit up every time she spoke about Alexander, and being a grandmother was one of the greatest joys of her life. Her love for him was constant, and she was so happy to be part of his life.
Cindy is survived by her husband, Michael Deeds; her son, Brandon Martin and wife Maryna; her grandson, Alexander Martin; her sister, Carolin Woodward; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A viewing and visitation will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS 66112. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the same location.
