

Daniel D. “Danny” Salazar, 62, Kansas City, Kansas, passed away July 12, 2012 at home surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 17 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., KCK. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, July 16 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., KCK, with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Danny was born November 16, 1949 in Kansas City, Kansas to Aurelio and Dolores Salazar. Growing up in Rosedale, Danny went to Holy Name Catholic School and Rosedale High School. He loved playing basketball and football at school. He worked as a Car Inspector for BNSF Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 2009. Danny was a member of the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) for 39 years. He was also a long-time member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Danny enjoyed travel of all kinds; he drove a motorcycle and would take trips on Amtrak with his wife and grandchildren. He loved his family more than anything.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Aurelio. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Virginia Salazar, son Daniel A. Salazar and his wife Susan, daughter Erica Salazar-Vega and her husband Conrad Vega, Jr., step-daughter Kimberly Whisler, step-daughter Melissa Salazar-Bates and her husband Jeffrey, brother John J. Salazar and his wife Theresa, sister Victoria Salazar, sister Rose Vasquez and her husband Jorge, sister Olivia Salazar, brother Nestor Salazar, brother José Salazar, grandchildren Daniel Felix, Cierra Stephenson, Dominic Salazar-Vega, Selena Salazar-Vega, Vincent Salazar-Vega, Valissia Salazar-Vega, Sophie Salazar-Vega, Layla Bates, Kaycee Salazar, and Keyaira Salazar as well as many other family and many friends.
