Della Catherine Zimmerman

Della Catherine Coleman Zimmerman, 81, Kansas City, Kansas passed away March 24, 2017. Della was born July 12, 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas to Frank and Ester Coleman. She was married to David Zimmerman in 1957 and together they had five children. Della was a very proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Della was a member of Victoria Tabernacle and Bethel Assembly of God Church. She loved her faith and enjoyed playing the piano and singing for the churches for many years. She had great generosity and always thought of others before herself. In her spare time, she also enjoyed sewing, gardening and traveling with her son.

Della was preceded in passing by three of her children, Kenneth Craig, Karen Dake and David Zimmerman. She was also preceded in death by her parents; husband, David L. Zimmerman; and sisters, Marietta Smith and Dianne Courtney.

Survivors include one brother, Ted Coleman; daughters, Linda (Dave) Jokisch and Laura (John) Barbour; grandchildren, Matthew, Jamie, Vanessa, Dianna, Sarah, Coleman, Colin and Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Ryan, Matthias, Elizabeth, Alistair, Sherwood, Gideon, Indiana, Digory, Parker, Lillian, Corliss, and one more due in July.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas 66112 with interment to immediately follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday, March 28, 2017, also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to American Cancer Society.
