Dennis Wilcox, 84, departed the earth into his eternal home peacefully on May 16th, 2024. Dennis was born in Pine City Minnesota on February 25th, 1940 to James and Margret Wilcox. He did a lot of great things in his time here from serving in the US Navy for 20 years, where he served in the Vietnam war, to running his own appliance business, driving a semi-truck over 2 million safe miles and was able to travel the all 50 United States just to name a few of his accomplishments.
He was an avid fisherman who loved to go camping at the lake with his family. Not only could you find him on the lake, but he was also a bowler, golfer, and a little bit of a gambler. He had a schedule to go every Monday morning bright and early (when he said the machines paid the best). He achieved many things in his time, but by far his favorite thing was being a devoted dad, grandpa, and great grandpa and friend who loved and was loved unconditionally.
He is survived by, his daughter, Lacy (Zack), his sons, Richard and John, 9 grandkids and 10 great grandkids. He will be missed by his dog, named Pal, who was his little ball of energy and brought joy into his life since the day he got him. Dennis lived a great and long life and will forever live on in memories and all the stories he told. I will end this with a quote from one of his favorite shows, NCIS, "A lot of stories…I guess that’s…That’s all we have in the end, right? Is just, just the stories we leave behind….I wouldn’t say only that, Jimbo. We also have the lives we touch while we are here. The people we leave behind.”
Funeral arrangements are made to honor Dennis Wilcox for June 1, 2024 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens located at 701 N 94th St, Kansas City, KS 66112. Visitation is at 9am, with services following after at 11am with military honors.
