

Doris Lawon (Griffin) Roussell, 83, of Shawnee, KS, died Sunday, October 7, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Fri., Oct. 12 at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N 94th Street in Kansas City, KS. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Doris Roussell was born in Mercer County, Missouri, the daughter of Clarence and Alma Griffin, but was a longtime Kansas City area resident. Doris was retired from commissioned sales work at Montgomery Wards. She and her beloved husband, Arthur A. Roussell, had been married for 52 years at the time of his passing several years ago. Doris’ passions were antique collecting with Art, supporting, watching and coaching her children’s sports teams, doting on her grandchildren and great grandchildren and making time to enjoy life with family and friends. She was an avid sports fan, especially enthusiastic about the University of Kansas men’s basketball and the Kansas City Royals.
Doris was also predeceased by an infant, great granddaughter Isabella and five siblings, Averil Reddington, Justin Griffin, Charles Griffin, Wayne Griffin, and Ardith Hartman.
Doris is survived by three daughters, Debbie Roussell, Denice Andrae (Gary), and Delaine Collins (John), five grandchildren, Louanna Vallejo, Stephen Vallejo Jr. (Julie), Justin Andrae (Brie), Chelsea Burns (Matt) and Garrett Andrae, four great grandchildren Stephen Vallejo III, Alivia Vallejo, Eva Galicia, and Delaney Andrae, a brother Buel Griffin, a sister Delores Nigh, her husband’s brother Willard Robinson (Betty), good friends Roy and Marilyn Reed, many nieces and nephews, and a large, close, extended family. They loved her dearly and already miss her, especially her laughter and her feisty spirit.
