Dorothy was born on March 18th, 1934 in Kansas City, Kansas to Clarence and Lucille Bosler. She was raised with her older sister, Nancy and younger brother, Jerry. Dorothy loved helping and serving others. As a young girl, Dorothy dreamed of being a nurse. In her younger years, she worked at National Bella Hess, IBM and Kansas City Southern. In 1980, she passed her nurses training at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and worked as a Licensed CNA for many years at Shawnee Mission, Cushing and Saint Luke’s on the Plaza. In her later years, Dorothy worked on private duty cases for Catholic Charities and finally retired in 2004 at the age of 70.

Dorothy was a devoted mother to her children, Lyle, Laurie and Michael. She took great pride in her family. In the 1960’s and 70’s, Dorothy served as Cub Scout Leader at their home in Argentine, Ks. She later volunteered to be Laurie’s Girl Scout Leader for several years, taking the Girl Scouts to Camp Tongawood. She taught many young people about respect for one another, devotion to God and especially mindfulness and respect for our country and the American flag. Whatever Dorothy’s children were busy doing, she was close by to offer a ride and support. She enjoyed including everyone in the fun. She loved to listen to her kids favorite radio station in the car and would sing along with the group to whatever trendy songs were out. WHB and Johnnie-Rockin-Rollin was one of her favorites. She loved a good joke and conversations with friends and family. Dorothy also loved animals and her little Yorkie, Baby Bear (RIP). She had a strong love of nature and lakes. She and her family spent many summers at the Lake of the Ozarks. Her favorite place while living at the Cathedral Towers, during her retirement, was to be outside in the courtyard on the park benches.

Dorothy especially loved God and she developed a very strong religious faith in her early years as a Baptist, then Lutheran by marriage and in the year 2000, Dorothy was confirmed in the Catholic faith by Monsignor Fiedler at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She loved her church and encouraged her family to seek comfort in prayer. Her favorite loves in life began with God and family, hard work, giving to those in need and love and respect for one another. As Dorothy would always say “Love and Peace to you!”

The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the Villa Saint Francis Team. A special thanks to The Medical Sisters of Saint Joseph and The Sisters of Saint Anne. If, desired, friends may make memorial contributions to establish a Villa Saint Francis Nursing Education & Communication Fund in honor of our mother at Villa St Francis 16600 W 126th St, Olathe, KS 66062-1184 or to the Pontifical Mission Societies at the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas, 12615 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66109 (This is the Mission providing funds for the Medical Sisters of Saint Joseph who cared for our mother.)
