

She was born on November 26, 1934 to Lillian Reynolds and Fred Maxwell in Topeka, KS.
She moved to Kansas City, KS and attended the Prominent all black High School Sumner Academy where she participated in Arts and Drama most notably she took part in a play as one of the head Actors for Spring Time for Patsy. She was also voted Homecoming Queen in year 1950-1951. And was a Proud Sumner Academy Alumni for Class of 1952.
Edna attended Kansas University after High School, but she chose to leave early to focus on motherhood and family.
She married her high school sweetheart Vaughn Rogers in 1956 and they had 3 children Lillian, Gina and Vaughn Edward (Eddy).
She first worked as a clerk for Wyandotte County Magistrate, but she left this job and worked for Union Pacific until she retired at the age of 65 as a Jitney Driver and Extra board Clerk.
In her free time she enjoyed reading, letter writing and reciting poetry. She also enjoyed collecting old vintage model cars and train sets.
Edna is survived by:
Siblings Fredericka Cobb, Edgar Harrison, Rachelle Maxwell, Fred Maxwell, and Calvin Maxwell.
Children, Lillian Gardner, Gina Grady and Husband Pat Grady, and Vaughn E. Rogers (Eddy).
Grandchildren Gabriel Gardner and Spouse Josie Ayala, Heather Gardner, Daniel Rogers and Wife Jacqueline Rogers, Demetria Spencer and Husband Tony Spencer, Donovan Grady, Candice Grady, Taylor Hudspeth and Husband Devon Hudspeth, Gavin Ricks, and Alexa Lowe.
Great Grandchildren Jaelen Gardner, Tatyana Gardner, Sara Ayala, Sadie Gardner, James D. Boozer, Arianna Boozer, Natalia Boozer, Sean Boozer, Nia Duron, Akayla Brown, Monet Spencer, Taya Spencer, Little Tony Spencer, Jordyn Rogers, Laila Carter, Sebastian Rogers, Matthias Grady, Easton Hudspeth, Jen'Avaeya Lowe, and Amosion Lowe.
And Great Great Grand Son Bryson Wilkins.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 19th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Chapel Hill-Butler Funeral Home, 701 N 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112 followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
